CBT Motorcycle Training Course

This CBT motorcycle training course is designed to teach you how to ride a motorcycle or scooter to a basic level, and must be completed before advancing to any further motorcycle training courses.

The Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) motorcycle course covers a wide range of topics over five elements. You MUST have read and understood the Highway Code before attending your CBT.

Course Overview

The CBT motorcycle training course is initially conducted at our safe off-road Training Centre, before finally taking the training onto the road.

It can be completed on an automatic scooter or a manual motorcycle; You MUST supply your own Helmet, Motorcycle Gloves, Sturdy Jacket, Waterproofs and Driving Licence. Your safety is our priority, this is why we are no longer loaning any equipment due to the coronavirus.

There is no pass or fail with a C.B.T as this is a training course. On successful completion of the above elements, you will receive a CBT Certificate, which expires after 2 years. You may now ride up to a 125cc motorcycle if you are aged 17 and above, and at 16 years of age you may only ride up to 50cc motorcycle or scooter. YOU MUST DISPLAY L PLATES TO THE FRONT AND REAR OF YOUR MOTORCYCLE/SCOOTER.

You can re-take your CBT every 2 years – You do not have to take a test.

1st Gear conduct C.B.T’s 7 days a week. Registration is at 7.45am; the finishing time varies.

If you do not complete your CBT on the same day, you will have to re-book additional training for an additional charge.

Rule 92 of the Highway Code

Vision. You MUST be able to read a vehicle number plate, in good daylight, from a distance of 20 metres (or 20.5 metres where the old style number plate is used).

If you need to wear glasses (or contact lenses) to do this, you MUST wear them at all times while driving.

The Highway Code applies to England, Scotland and Wales and is essential reading for everyone.
